Jacob P. Alpren

Partner / General Counsel

Jacob Alpren brings a depth of professional experience to Alcott Group investigations.  He began his career as an investigative reporter, subsequently attended Stanford Law School and then spent over a decade as an attorney conducting criminal and civil investigations spanning Europe, the U.S. and Asia.

 

As a partner with the San Francisco law firm of Farmer Brownstein Jaeger & Goldstein, Mr. Alpren focused on antitrust matters, white-collar criminal investigations and complex business litigation.  He regularly litigated matters in federal and state courts and has extensive experience representing clients involved in banking, high tech and automobile manufacturing.  Mr. Alpren's prior legal associations also include Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, Sherman & Sterling and the United States Department of Justice.  He clerked in the Eastern District of New York.  

 

Mr. Alpren spent nearly a decade living and working in greater China, first as a reporter and Shanghai Bureau Chief for Associated Press-Dow Jones, and later in finance. He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and has developed extensive contacts with business leaders in greater China, Vietnam and Japan.

Jing E

Investigator

Ms. E has over 15 years of experience in managing security and investigative projects in China.  She has extensive experience conducting trade secret investigations for China’s largest high-tech companies, and maintains close contacts with Chinese government and law enforcement agencies. Prior to her work as a private investigator, Ms. E was a stakeholder in an elite multinational risk-consultancy in China, where she managed IT penetration and protection and other IT related cases.

Ms. E is fluent in Mandarin, Shanghai dialect and English.

Wang Yu

Investigator

Wang Yu is a senior investigator with over 20 years of investigations experience in China.  He has served major Chinese and foreign companies in a variety of industries, and specializes in trade secret investigations as well as crisis resolution.   Prior to his work as a private investigator, Mr. Wang served as Director of Criminal Investigations for the Shanghai Changning District Police Bureau. In that capacity, he managed all types of criminal investigations.  Mr Wang also served as Senior Investigation Manager for Wheat Financial and Inspector for Bank of Beijing, where he handled fraud investigations.

Mr. Wang is fluent in Mandarin and Shanghai dialect.

Bruce Griffen

Investigator

Bruce Griffen worked for 13 years as a detective in various Australian Govrnement law enforcement agencies, including New South Wale’s Organized Crime Squad and Australia’s Drug Enforcement Agency.  He subsequently worked as an attorney for a major Australian law firm.  Mr. Griffen’s inter-jurisdictional work in law enforcement led him to develop a network of law enforcement contacts throughout Australia and South East Asia.
